El fin de semana pasado tuve sesión con Boogie Van, un trío de Rentería que lleva ya más de diez años haciendo hard rock del bueno. Suenan a Deep Purple y a Sabbath, aunque con unos riffs que huelen a stoner. Hemos cargado y descargado juntos su furgoneta en muchos conciertos, y se acordaron de mí para sacarles unas fotos. Acaban de grabar un nuevo álbum -discazo- y necesitaban material para ilustrarlo, así como para cartelería y promoción. Escuchamos música, bebimos cerveza y lo pasamos de lujo. Rock ‘n roll.

Last weekend I had a photo shoot with Boogie Van, a local trio that has been playing good hard rock for more than ten years now. They remind me of Deep Purple and Sabbath, but with guitar riffs that sometimes feel like stoner rock. We have loaded and unloaded their van together at many concerts, and they asked me to take some pictures of them. They have just recorded a fantastic new album, and they needed material for the CD, posters and marketing. We listened to music, drank beer and had a great time. Rock ‘n roll.

Chicas, agarraos: Randall Ritmo está en la ciudad. La estrella de la radio ha venido para presentar un evento y he tenido la suerte de que acudiera a mi estudio para una fugaz sesión de fotos. Su reputación no es más que una sombra de la realidad, os lo garantizo. Yo diría incluso que es demasiado auténtico para esta época. Ya no quedan personajes así: un tifón de energía sexual absolutamente destructivo.

Woman, brace yourself: Randall Ritmo is in town. The radio star has arrived to introduce an event, and by chance I had the opportunity to have him at my studio for a quick photo shoot. Believe me, his reputation is nothing but a shadow of reality. I would dare say he is too real for this era. There are not many characters like this one left: an absolutely destructive typhoon of sexual energy.

Este hombre es mi hermano. Mi amigo, un gran tipo y un estupendo fotógrafo. ¿Ves la cicatriz de su barbilla? Se la hice yo hace 20 años, cuando lo tiré de un columpio de un empujón. Aún hoy siento haberlo hecho.

The scar - This is my brother. He is my friend, a great guy and a fine photographer. Do you see that big scar on his cheek? Well, that was my fault: I pushed him off a swing 20 years ago. I am still very sorry for that.
